Gundog  Training

Gundog training is a fantastic way to train and enjoy your working breed whilst stimulating their natural instincts. It is not just for those who compete or shoot regularly but is ideal for those wishing to train their dog by working with their natural instincts. 

Training this way creates a bond between you and your dog and allows you to harness your dog's natural ability.

The sole focus is on your dog and we can work on elements of training before adding in the distractions  of a group. If we need to have other dogs present to proof any training, my canine gang are always obliging.

​

Sessions are all held onsite in private grounds near Hedley on the Hill. 

I have a few small training paddocks, a larger 3 acre field with jumps and retrieving grids* and an additional 8 acre field. full of scents and smells. .

Pet Gundog Training

Most owners of gundog breeds chose them to suit an active lifestyle. Whether this is as a working/sporting dog or to keep up with an outdoor lifestyle hiking, exploring and adventuring.  

Problems can arise when the dog develops his/her natural working instincts to hunt/chase and they are not managed correctly. Many clients do not feel they can let their spaniel, labrador or crossbreed off leash as they will ' run off' after birds, bunnies or sometimes even just an interesting smell!  

  

This can result in very stressful walks for both dog and owners - whilst the dog is resigned to life on leash. If this sounds like you, then Pet Gundog Training  is the way forwards.  

  

During the first session we will discuss any questions you may have about your dog and find out what you would like to achieve or improve on.  

Alongside private sessions, I run multiple gundog training groups as and when you are ready. These are a fun friendly mix of working dogs and pet gundogs.. If you would like to join try a beginner group, check out Gundog Foundations.

For me, I enjoy shoot days primarily because I get to work my dogs.  Mind you, its certainly most enjoyable when all of the training comes together and we have a successful day beating or picking up. 

​

If you are looking to make progress with your dogs training towards having a reliable shooting companion, or looking to start from scratch, there is plenty going on here to help you out. 

​

Alongside  private sessions and foundations training, there are multiple skill specific workshops to build those essential aspects of a working gundog.

We have around 10 acres set aside for Gundog Specific training, including plenty of cover, as well as  all of the necessary equipment  of equipment,  including jumps, steadying pen, dummy launchers and bolting rabbit lure
